St Hoax is an Artist who uses art to tell the ugly truth

Intent- raise awareness about domestic abuse

Communication objective- Shock the audience and make them think

How they communicate the intent-
- uses the familiarity of Disney princesses to show that life isn't a fairy tale and that lot's of people are suffering in silence
- clever to use these iconic Disney characters as it grabs people's attention
- contrast between the up- beat fairytale in Disney to the harsh reality of society
- the physical marks are clear and gruesome

He uses a similar technique to raise awareness around anorexia and child abuse

  • Over summer I will explore the use of familiar charcater to portray a deeper message.
  • As my project revolves around equality, a proportion of it could focus on domestic abuse, and female rights.

  • Therefore over summer I intend to pick a variety of female superheroes and re-draw them as victims of domestic abuse
  • I will look at the idea that even if someone seems happy there may be under-lying problems.
  • I think this is a really effective way to raise awareness as it grabs people's attention
  • to ensure that my work is not too similar to St Hoax's I will use a different media to create my images and may put them into a comic book style narrative.
