Week 3- reportage

 Intent
to communicate a sense of being somewhere with an illustration informed by by reportage.
Brief- to communicate the sense of quiet desperation amongst coffee drinkers and smokers in the car park and refectory
Reference point-

Starting point a)

  • What does this image communicate?
- time/ history - colour pallet/ fashion suggests it is based in Victorians times

-  movement- features man falling over, quick sketchy lines, creates movement and shows this was an observational drawing

-  mood- violent, could have been a struggle.

  • What does it make you feel/think?
-  unsettled, the colour scheme is dark and creates an un-settling/ un-friendly atmosphere to the picture
- the people in the picture lack detailed facial expression, making the image cold and un- emotional
-dull- the picture features a dull, ordinary situation, and nothing of great importance is happening
- intrigued - due to the lack of information given, the image is intriguing, as it makes you question the story behind the drawing

  • What does it make you understand?
-There is a story behind the drawing, more than is being shown in the picture
- the dark colours, creates the understanding that it is portraying a negative event
